Luc neemt het Landelijk Meetnet Flora (LMF) van de provincie Utrecht onder de loep. Dit terrestrische meetnet bevat PQ’s in verschillende habitattypes, die al twintig jaar op dezelfde locatie en met dezelfde methodiek worden opgenomen. Luc duikt in deze data en probeert trends, signalen en relevante veranderingen aan het licht te brengen door een breed scala aan analyses in te zetten. Voor zijn stage is hij bezig met een vlakdekkende vegetatiekartering bij een herstelproject in de Westbroekse Zodden. Staatsbosbeheer heeft hier herstelmaatregelen uitgevoerd om de ontwikkeling van het habitattype blauwgrasland te stimuleren. Om in kaart te brengen of de herstelmaatregelen werken gaat Marijn in het veld aan de slag om de actuele situatie vast te leggen. Zijn scriptie gaat over het effect van verschillende maaistrategieën op de biodiversiteit in wegbermen. Aan de hand van monitoringsgegevens bekijkt Render hoeveel invloed maaibeheer heeft op de biodiversiteit, en hij zoekt daarnaast uit of andere factoren als bodemtype of stikstofdepositie wellicht een belangrijkere rol spelen dan het beheer. Dactylis begeleidt haar bij het laatste onderdeel, haar scriptie. Hierin kijkt ze naar de toepassing van paludicultuur in veenweidegebied, als alternatief op de huidige landbouwpraktijk. Paludicultuur is niet alleen economisch een interessant alternatief, het kan ook verschillende ecosysteemdiensten bieden. In haar scriptie vergelijkt Emma de toepassingen van veenmos, lisdodde en azolla en beschrijft ze de verschillende ecosysteemdiensten per toepassing.
